General Job Description
The Mechanical VDC Specialist/Engineer plays a critical role in implementing and managing BIM/VDC processes to drive efficiency and accuracy in construction projects. This position requires strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and proficiency with industry-standard tools such as Navisworks, Revit, and AutoCAD. The VDC Specialist thrives in a fast-paced environment, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to ensure project success.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and prepare models using Autodesk Navisworks, Glue, and other industry-recognized coordination software
- Perform clash detection and resolution, ensuring model accuracy and coordination between trades.
- Attend and represent CTS & Clients in BIM coordination meetings, facilitating collaboration between project stakeholders.
- Redline project scope drawings and manage model data for project planning, work breakdown structures (WBS), and material take-offs (MTOs/QTOs).
- Develop construction deliverables, including submittal (shop) drawings, installation details, and fabrication layouts.
- Utilize 3D laser scanning technology to capture and verify existing conditions.
- Track and resolve project issues using Autodesk BIM 360 Issues or similar issue management platforms.
- Coordinate with clients, trades, vendors, and other BIM service providers to sequence construction activities effectively.
- Maintain project status in CTS’s preferred project management platform (ClickUp)
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Strong communication & collaboration skills to ensure clarity in project coordination and stakeholder collaboration.
- Ability to work independently when needed and stay on task
- Proficiency in Autodesk Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and Autodesk Construction Cloud.
- Knowledge of project management principles, risk mitigation strategies, and construction workflows.
- Knowledge of mechanical and/or plumbing systems design, pipe routing, and IMC compliance.
- Problem-solving mindset with the ability to anticipate and address challenges proactively.
- Experience with data management, ensuring organized and accurate project documentation.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and deliver high-quality work under pressure.
- Associate/Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field OR 3+ years of experience in the AEC industry.
- Revit Certified Associate or professional certification preferred.
- AGC Certificate of Management – BIM (CM-BIM) is a plus.
